Rock n Roll At Its Finest

Like I mentioned before, October/November were CRAZY months here in LA. We had Robert Francis, Needtobreathe, and Serena Ryder all in one week. Robert played at The Roxy, which any LA people who haven’t been there, you should go, like now, because it’s the perfect place for a nice intimate show (but not too small), which was perfect for Robert. He played songs from his new album Before Nightfall, which was released that day, as well as a few hits from his first album, One By One. He played beautifully and with extreme expression. He is such a talented musician and he commanded the attention of the audience. His closing song “Do What I Can” was performed solo, just him and his guitar. The audience was completely silent, all eyes and ears fixed on him in amazement of his beautiful voice and extreme passion. Listening to this song gave me chills. It was incredible.

The next night Needtobreathe played with Serena Ryder and it was once again an amazing night of complete talent. This was my first time hearing NTB live, and holy goodness, it was awesome. Their music is a great mix of Kings Of Leon and Coldplay, but with a twist thanks to Bear’s little southern twang in his voice that is just oh so wonderful. They had everyone dancing, clapping, and singing along. They decided to play their last song to a sold out crowd on the balcony of the venue acoustic and unplugged. They relied on the audience to sing along in order for everyone to hear the entire song. It was seriously incredible.

To me, attending our artists’ shows is a significant part of being an intern and working at the label. It is important to show support for the artist and it is a good networking opportunity. I have been to over 30 shows with Atlantic and I LOVE attending shows and spending time with people outside of the office has helped me to build a stronger relationship with everyone. It is a time when everyone unwinds together and gets to enjoy the music they love.
